ARC Review: Santa’s Runaway Elf

Santa’s Runaway Elf

by Jessie L. Best (Author),

Polina Polyankakul (Illustrations)
It was a lonely trek through a howling blizzard!Feeling left out of Santa’s busy preparations for Christmas, Ralph, Santa’s smallest elf, decides to run away. When he packs his suitcase and leaves, he finds himself running right into a terrific snowstorm! This is the tale of Ralph’s misadventures in the wintry countryside of the North Pole. Can Santa find his little elf and bring him home in time for Christmas?

*I received a digital copy for review from the author. This does not affect my review.*

I was excited to read this as we near Christmas time, and it was just the thing to start off some Christmas spirit. While I didn’t immediately like Ralph, I could understand his struggles with being little and feeling like he didn’t belong among Santa’s elves. (Well, I haven’t tried to be an elf, but I’m pretty sure it’s not much different than people when we fill like we don’t belong.) It wasn’t until after he helps the old woman that I was really engaged in the story, but since it’s a short book, I didn’t really have to wait long before I was excited to know what would happen to little Ralph! I enjoyed reading this, and can easily see children and parents alike enjoying this as we near Christmas time!
